I’m so excited to share information, even if you only have the tiniest smidge of interest in wellness. I believe health and well-being holds different meaning and value to each of us, and I try to honor that in the way I coach and inform. This blog is simply to share a fresh perspective on our bodies and how to care for them. I believe in providing factual information and combatting the misinformation that is particularly pervasive in the health and wellness industry. My hope is that you will identify how your own values align with the information I provide and use that to find value in my blog. I encourage all readers to tap into and trust your own instincts with how to use what I share. General disclaimers for every piece of educational information I share, are below.
Health is unique to each person and is shaped by genetics, lifestyle, and environment - often referred to as bio-individuality. What works well for one person may not work for another. It’s helpful to explore what has worked for others, but remember your body may need something different, and finding the right approach may take trial and error. Listen to your body.
Before making major lifestyle or dietary changes, consult your healthcare provider to ensure it is safe for you. Some people require medication, and others may have health conditions that limit certain diets. For example, full-fat foods may benefit one person but be harmful to someone with an unhealthy or diseased liver that struggles to digest fat. It’s best to consult before acting.
I love health. I love it so much that I earned a B.S in Health Science, a Master of Public Health and a nutrition health coaching certificate. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with the way we care for the environment and ourselves. However, I am not a doctor or a dietician and thus cannot diagnose, treat, or prescribe what to eat/not eat, which medicine or supplements to take/not take or what is best/not best for you and your health. This is because a) I’m not trained to do that and b) see point 1.
The blips of information I share is from my personal experience and from trusted sources. Bodies and health are complex and so, the topics I discuss are also complex. There are text books on these topics, so please understand I share what I believe to be the most imperative but am not best positioned to be wholly comprehensive. If you are interested, which I hope you are, dig deeper. In fact, I urge you to dig deeper so you can be an informed health advocate for yourself, have educated discussions with your provider and challenge them when necessary (because, sometimes folks, it's necessary) and to ultimately, make healthy decisions for YOU.
No change is too small! The constant flow of information in this day and age can be overwhelming and there’s no need to make many changes all at once. Small changes lead to big impact and sustainable lifestyles!
